Links to places

I've been planning a birthday dinner for my mother, so here're the consolidated links, verified still in use as of today :

V TeaRoom : Extremely high-end Tea Place, but as with most confectionary, vegetarian (if you eat milk etc) but not vegan.
Location : Esplanade.

Komala's Indian Food : Vegetarian indian food offering delivery as well - spicy and fragrant, not exactly cheap but useful if you're hungry and too lazy to move.
Location : East Coast, Little India, Peninsula, Delivery.

Gokul Indian Vegetarian Restaurant : Offers Buffet at around $12 (not confirmed) pax. Recommended by some, but termed as monotonous by some.
Location : Upper Dickson Road

Lao Di Fang Pao Pao Cha Restaurant : Offers Chinese restaurant-style vegetarian food at more or less affordable prices. Apparently they offer a buffet at $48.80 for 4 pax, but I saw no indication of this outside the store even though I called up to ask.
Location : Apollo Centre, Opposite Clarke Quay MRT Station

LingZhi Vegetarian Restaurant : Chinese-style vegetarian restaurant - high end, but offers lunch and dinner buffet at $17.80 and $23.80 respectively.
Location : Far East and Liat Towers.

Annalakshmi : Indian Vegetarian Restaurant - apparently serves buffet, with a "pay as you like" principle in other countries (not sure about Singapore).

Indinine : Another indian contemporary vegetarian restaurant. Is it me, or am I seeing a trend here? Mid-end indian restaurant.
Location : Suntec Level #03-16

Bombay Vegetarian Restaurant : High end indian restaurant, vegetarian.
Location : Tanjong Katong Road

Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant : Offers vegetarian Buffet, affordable and alright, but rather out of the way.
Location : Balestier Road

Also, Roma's Deli has shifted to Ang Mo Kio.

Will update with whichever I choose after the 28th August.

Food outside, and home cooked food.

Hi stalkers! Here are some food finds.

Veg Tom Yam Noodles from Marina Square Food loft. With yellow noodles, vegs, tofu, mushroom, carrots. I love the tofu, silky and generous in portion.  Posted by Picasa

Also, Suntec City Mall has a vegetarian outlet, Vegetarian Kingdom at the cinema level. Check it out for a meal when you're in the area. I tired the Lohan something, basically veggies with gravy. Not too bad. My friends had the breaded "prawn", which tasted great too.

Mushrooms, potatoes and carrots with a dash of chilli sauce and Prego's tomato sauce.  Posted by Picasa

Here is something I just whipped up in 15 minutes, boiled everything and added some seasonings... tasted great. Have to soak the mushroom first though for 10 minutes or so, note to newbie cooks like me.

Have a great day!

Singapore Meatout (22-30 July)

Singapore meat-out is organised by the Vss (vegetarian society singapore) and will be held from 22nd to 30th July.

Throughout this period, offers will be given at several participating outlets, so join the event, and get all the carnivores and omnivores to turn herbivore for good! (or if not, just for this period)

Animals Matter

http://www.animalsmatter.org

Enter the above site to sign the pledge to support the campaign to tell governments that animals matter. Remember to select "Singapore" in the country. I've sent e-mails out the various plantstalkers who provided e-mails, so this is additional to the guys who didn't include their e-mails here =)

Also, Acres, our resident animal rights group, has a shortage of the following items :

- Brochure stands (A5 size)
- Laminator
- Laptop
- Personal CD player
- Digital video camera
- DVD/VCD player (compact preferred)
- Office stationary- files, folders, paper, printer ink etc.
- Bookcase/shelves

Send them an e-mail at (info(at)acres.org.sg) if you have any of the items above (2nd hand is alright as well).

------------

Lastly, can I just inquire if anyone knows for a fact that the "Ham" and "Ebi" in Sakae sushi's vegetarian menu are mock products?

Meat-eating Is Harzardous To The Earth

Not many people know that meat eating contributes to environmental problems.

Issues include:

1) Acres of forests are deforested to make way for grazing and agricultural farms for animals.
2) Two-thirds of the world's agricultural land is used to feed livestock instead of hungry people.
3) Overgrazing leads to serious soil degeneration resulting in expanding wastelands.
4) Animal faeces and farm wastes are major water and land pollutants which ofteen result in acid rain.
5) All 17 of the world's major fisheries have either reached or exceeded their limits.
6) 1 billion [1 in 5] people lack safe water.
Fact: 1 lb of beef uses 5,214 gallons while 1 lb of vegetables uses only 25 gallons.
